Ben Gocker - The Pisces - Interstate Projects

Last Saturday night Interstate Projects celebrated the release of The Pisces, a short novel by D.A.D. frequenter Ben Gocker published by Content. The book centers around the fictional basketball team The Pisces and their iconic star Dr. Cram. In addition to the copies of the book there were sculptures of characters from The Pisces, Pisces jerseys, and wooden pizza slices. Also seen: Dazzling Dunks and Basketball Bloopers.We had to leave a little early to relieve our generous volunteer babysitter, but imagine drunker, sweatier versions of everyone in darker, even grainier pictures.

"What in the hell!?" Coach Friendly is not happy. Dr. Cram got knocked out cold while bricking his signature dunk, the GatorJam, and the Pisces have a huge game tomorrow against the Bachelors. Maybe the solution lies with the strange men sleeping in Oscar Ortega's private jet, or maybe the place to look is Dr. Andrew Weil's jean shorts (like jeans he had cut off so as to make shorts). Sara Barron - Comedian(ne)

Comedian and author Sara Barron came over for brunch on Sunday. She and Amy have been friends since they danced side-by-side in a middle-school song-and-dance crew called "Traveling Troop."

Sara's book, People are Unappealing is a hilarious collection of her personal stories of suffering fools, well summarized HERE by the author herself. Check that out, then watch this video she made in which she dramatizes a porno she wrote at age 11.

Ricky Powell - Oh No He Didn't - Klughaus Gallery

These cops jumped out of an unmarked cop car painted to look like a taxi and rushed Ricky for his bottle.  He talked his way out of the ticket and kept the beer.

I was stoked to meet photographer and man-about-town Ricky Powell at the opening of his new show "Oh No He Didn't" at Klughaus Gallery on Friday. In addition to his incredible images, Ricky is a classic 'seen-it-all-done-it-all' character and his stories are incredible. This show includes classic portraits of New York legends from the hip hop, graffiti, and art scenes as well as various celebrities and icons.

Old friends from back home Coolzey and Schaffer the Darklord played Knitting Factory on Wednesday night.  I am consistently impressed with the talent, skill, and drive of these two lads, but more than anything I am floored their incredible capacity to remember. A great thing about catching them on a double bill is you get to see this gem.
