The Brothers Are Gonna Work It Out - Dylan & Brendan Lynch / Peter & Andrew Sutherland

Lenard Smith is an awesome photographer and he is a well dressed man.

Julian Schnabel came through.

Peter and Andrew Sutherland

The last time I saw Peter Sutherland was at an exhibition he and Maia Ruth Lee had put together called Ground Score. It was a really cool show and it stuck with me, so when he invited me to stop by a gallery warming and check out some of his latest work, I jumped at the chance.

The title of the show is “The Brothers Are Gonna Work It Out” and it features work by two pair of brothers, Peter and Andrew Sutherland and Dylan and Brendan Lynch. I don't know that 'mixed media' does enough to describe the playful assemblages of sporting goods, beer cans, car parts, photos, nylon ponchos, etc. The pieces are all very different but hang together perfectly. It seems incredibly hard to make something that is at once simple and surprising and beautiful, but these guys have it down. The work was fun and funny and different without putting on any airs.

Also, Peter is a super nice guy and I am stoked to see him succeed. I feel lucky that I've gotten to know him a little and been present for these shows. I am already looking forward to whatever is next, and considering how prolific the dude is, that shouldn't be far off. Judging by the type of people that are showing up at his openings it's a solid bet that you'll be hearing a lot more from him in the near future.

My apologies that I once again blew it with regard to writing down who made what or any titles or any other useful information. I will update details where possible.

I Love a Parade - Giants Super Bowl Celebration

This streamer started in a window and streched hundreds of feet into the sky, reaching all the way from the Woolworth Building across the park...
...where these kids were shocked to discover it was toilet paper.
